The Great Lies We Wear

by Daymian Miller

In smiles, we hide behind the lie,

“I'm fine,” we say, though deep inside,

Our souls, they bear a heavy toll,

Cracks in our hearts, in darkness, they grow.

In the presence of others, our souls radiate a subtle glow,

Mending the fractures in our hearts with a grace they've come to know,

Crafting elaborate tales, our truths artfully concealed in the show.

“I'm okay, just tired,” we claim,

To shield the world from our inner flame,

Yet within, a battle brews and roars,

A struggle waged behind closed doors.

In the darkness, we seek a ray,

A flicker of light to guide our way,

In the deepest corners where shadows creep,

We plant a seed, our secret to keep.

A flower blooms, a symbol of hope,

In the heart's abyss, where emotions lope,

The great lie lingers, but beneath the veil,

We nurture the bloom, where our true self sets sail.
