A Mere Memory

Acrylic painting in brown and beige tones of a young girl with a doll

The photo this acrylic painting references is one of the oldest pictures of me in my mother's phone. I was standing in my living room, posing with one of my favorite dolls as she snapped a picture. I was around seven, maybe a little younger. I turn eighteen at the end of this year. As I painted this, I faced the fact that I would never be this little girl again, and I let her go at the same time. She is lost to time, but not forgotten.
