Dear Moon

by Viviana Reyes-Ramirez

Dear moon,

How is it possible

That you

Being the symbol of night

And darkness

Are able

To catch such a strong connection

With others?

Distant and alone.

Yet,

Always waiting

In the sky

Whether or not I speak

Or say goodnight

To you.

We all

Go through cycles,

However,

Yours are in plain sight

For us humans

To see.

And moon,

darling,

I love the way

Your reflection moves

Each direction,

You cast light

Just strong enough

To read all the small letters

Of my books,

You rise

Each night with intentions

To calm my soul

And mind.
