Cooped In

Artist Statement:

I spent all of the earlier months of quarantine shut in my room, focusing on the work I was doing and neglecting most other aspects of my life, self-isolating to the max. The light on my desk was a steadying force, and the farther away I got from it the more unsteady I became. Many young people who were students during this tumultuous time, including myself, keenly felt all of the twists and turns of the pandemic, and I drew this piece to help raise awareness for mental health. The title of the piece is in reference to this isolation, and I used sharpie pen, an unforgiving medium, to help myself express my feelings about it more precisely.
