Painted Face

While creating this drawing, I wanted to use a balance of textures to show depth. The use of shading and color on her collar, makeup and hair distract from her despondent expression. It symbolizes having to put on a show for others and losing enjoyment of the day to day. The best subject to convey this idea is a clown because they are there for the amusement of others and their real feelings are hidden behind their act.
